Geologist / Geophysicist

Job description

As a Geologist / Geophysicist, you will play a critical role in evaluating geological and geophysical data, conducting subsurface analyses, and contributing to exploration and development projects. You will work closely with engineers, and project managers to support decision-making and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological and geophysical studies to support exploration and development projects.
• Analyze rock samples, core data, seismic, gravity, and magnetic data to assess potential.
• Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and subsurface structural interpretations.
• Evaluate formation properties, reservoir characteristics, and hydrocarbon potential.
• Support drilling operations with geological guidance and real-time formation evaluation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on reservoir modeling and development planning.
• Perform petrophysical analysis and log interpretation to characterize rock properties.
• Conduct field work including geological mapping, sampling, and data collection.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Stay current with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas exploration or development.
• Strong knowledge of geological and geophysical principles and applications.
• Experience with geological and geophysical software (Petrel, Kingdom, ArcGIS, etc.).
• Familiarity with seismic interpretation, log analysis, and reservoir characterization.
• Understanding of drilling operations and completion technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility is preferred.
• Willingness to travel to field locations and work in various weather conditions.
