Natural Gas Marketer

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Natural Gas Marketer to help expand our footprint in the North American natural gas markets. This role focuses on physical and/or financial trading, sourcing supply, optimizing transport and storage, and building long-term commercial relationships with producers, pipelines, utilities, and end users. The ideal candidate brings deep market knowledge, a strong industry network, and a proven track record in gas marketing, origination, or trading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, negotiate, and execute physical and/or financial natural gas transactions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, aggregators, utilities, industrial customers, and pipelines
  • Monitor market fundamentals, pricing trends, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities
  • Optimize use of pipeline transportation and storage assets to enhance margins
  • Assist in structuring deals, creating term sheets, and executing contracts
  • Coordinate with scheduling, logistics, and risk management teams to ensure smooth deal execution
  • Support company initiatives in natural gas procurement, marketing strategy, and portfolio expansion
  • Provide regular updates on market conditions, deal pipelines, and commercial performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in natural gas marketing, trading, or commercial origination
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian and U.S. gas market dynamics (AECO, NGTL, TC Energy, etc.)
  • Experience with transportation and storage contracts, nominations, and pipeline scheduling
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and energy trading systems; knowledge of ETRM platforms is a plus
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify and close deals independently
  • Existing book of business or strong relationships with upstream producers and/or downstream buyers (preferred)
  • Knowledge of LNG, renewable natural gas (RNG), or international gas markets (preferred)
  • Familiarity with physical/financial hedging tools and risk strategies (preferred)

Monday to Friday, with market flexibility as needed
